Why I Turned Down Free Help

Don't you just love it when you get results? Like when you set a goal, figure out what you need to do to achieve that goal and then you actually do it?

If you've been on my mailing list for awhile, you know that I'm just like you – a busy solopreneur trying to balance my business, my day job, my life and my health and wellness.

I send an email out in my marketing sequence to you guys that talks about WHY I'm starting my own business – if you just signed up for the Challenge you haven't gotten that one yet – and I hear back from so many of you how much it resonates with you, and I also get lots of offers from my health and wellness BFFs to let me into their programs for free as a thank you for the 5 Day Challenge.

And I turn them down!! And I let them know that I'm turning them down because I know I won't follow through and then I'll be embarrassed. I'm turning down FREE help from experts!! What the hell is wrong with me?

After noticing that pattern, I decided I needed to get some help. I want to want to live a healthy lifestyle again. I want to want to work out again. I know exactly what I need to do, but I'm not doing it!! I hired my business coach, Vicki Fitch, because I thought I needed help with sales & marketing strategies. Oh how wrong I was! Don't get me wrong, we totally work on that, but through working with Vicki I've discovered how my thoughts and beliefs and experiences shape my actions and reactions and decisions – and that I have to change my beliefs in order to be successful in my business. If I would have known that mindset was going to be what we ended up working on, I would have never hired a coach – I don't need help with my mindset!! Uh, yeah, right. That's the first sign you need help with your mindset.

Seeing how powerful this type of coaching is in my business, I decided I needed to work on my weight loss mindset, which led me to hiring a weight loss mindset coach – someone to help me get unstuck and start taking action. It's only been a couple of weeks, but I'm already seeing changes. I can't wait to share with you guys how it all goes!

This whole launching an online business has been transformative for me. And being the queen of DIY, I've learned something that I want to share with you guys: you don't have to be the one actually doing all the things you need to do to get results – you can figure out what you need to do and find someone else to guide you or do it for you.

I know, right?? I just discovered this concept recently – I can ask people for help!! I don't have to do it all on my own!! There are people out there that you can trust, that will understand what you need and that won't rip you off or disappear. Crazy, right?

My business coach. My VA. My weight loss mindset coach. I'm investing in a team that I can lean on – because there's NO WAY I can do this all myself, I actually don't know everything, and if I don't take care of my body, what is all of this for anyway??

Which brings me to today's topic: all the ways you can ask WP+BFF for help!!

I'm all about DIY because of the empowerment factor, but when you get to a point where you're stressed to the max, you can't make something work, you feel like you want to give up – that's when you need to ask for help! In fact, you should ask for help before you get to that point. You don't have to do it all on your own! And spoiler alert – you can't!

So I'm offering a reboot of my BFF Power Hour Service where you can purchase blocks of time with me and I'll take care of special projects for you. I've been quietly testing this service out to make sure I can fit it into my workweek, and guess what? The world didn't collapse!

Here's what one of my BFFs has to say about this new service:

“I woke up one morning and like magic my website was live!

Using the 5 Free Day Website Challenge and some personalised support from Shannon in theWP*BFF Facebook group I'd developed the website for my new systems strategy and productivity mentoring business.

But now it was sitting on my home server where no one could see it.

Even with a background in IT and a good base knowledge of web development the idea of launching my website myself filled me with dread . It would be hours spent feeling out of my depth and stressing that I would break something I couldn't fix. And as a stay-at-home mom to an 8 month old those business-building hours are precious.

I knew I'd need to let Shannon know about my new site going live as she already had my back with her WordPress Protection Plan on the site I was replacing. That email turned into a call for help and almost immediately that feeling of dread was replaced with excitement!

Shannon was so clear and responsive in her emails. She told me exactly what she would need from me and made it super easy to get the files and information to her. With me in New Zealand and Shannon in the US she could work while I slept, and so a week after I booked time with Shannon I woke up to my new website live!

This is absolutely one of the best investments I've made in starting my business and so aligned with how I want to operate going forward. It feels great!”

This makes me so happy!!! Kerryn asked for help and in doing so shifted a task that fills her with dread over to someone who gets excited about these kinds of projects!

And that's aligned with how I want to operate going forward too.
